Pool coping is the material that differentiates the pool from the solid ground of the deck surrounding it. Coping protects the shell of the pool and any external surfaces from possible water damage.
There are four main types of pool coping. These include concrete pavers, brick and composite materials and natural stone. In this post, we will focus on the advantages of using natural stones for pool coping.
Non-slip coping is generally recommended as it protects bathers from slipping, reducing the risk of injury around the pool.
Natural stones have many benefits for use as pool coping. They are aesthetically attractive – and also hard wearing. Travertine tiles are a great choice when using natural stone materials.
Why?
These tiles look fantastic for a start. Travertine is extremely durable – it is estimated that most tiles will last around 100 years! (or more).
Another key advantage is that their naturally porous texture makes them slip-resistant and safer for swimmers.
Travertine tiles are heat resistant, too. Therefore on a hot day, when you step onto the tiles your feet will stay nice and cool.
